About this Project
Current sports sideline concussion assessments can vary depending on the knowledge and experience of the physician performing the exam. Even with our advancements in technology, more and more players are risking their lives by playing with a concussion. For this project, I wanted to create a product that will accumulate data for sports concussions and future sideline concussion diagnosis.

‍The S-CAT system will provide a method to quantify, measure, and potentially diagnosis right on the sideline. The S-CAT  will allow sports teams to protect their investments and the futures of the athletes. The data the system will create could lead to life-changing concussion-based research. 

S-CAT tests for:

Vision

Duel eye-tracking cameras built into the headset. Utilizing Microsoft’s Eye Tracking API, the S-CAT can detect any lack of visual concentration in the patient based on variances from the baseline test.

Balance

The S-CAT includes a built-in accelerometer so sensitive, it can detect a change in the position of its center chip of less than one-billionth the width of a human hair.

Cognition

Nine EEG sensors concealed in the headset. These sensors quantifying activity in the brain give us an understanding of the brain regions involved in various cognitive processes while still on the sideline.
